In 1963, the Pantone company published its first bi-annual colour guide. 250 years before the start of this company, a dutch painter, A. Bogert, decided to classify the variations of tones when mixing watercolour with different quantities of water. The result was ‘Traité des couleurs servant á la peinture á l’eau‘, a guide of more than 700 pages completely handcrafted.
